Over the past thirty years, I have juggled between my love for telling sacred stories and my joy in teaching the art of sacred storytelling Now, I am combining my two passions into a single integrated process. On November 29, 2009 the First Sunday of Advent and the new liturgical year, I begin online weekly seminars for subscribers to Parables Today, The Lectionary Storybook.
The new format is a weekly subscription service to both the written and spoken formats, and a discussion group among the participants. But it is something more. Every week I will create an exercise -- an experiment -- to help you delve more deeply into the Biblical images and the stories themselves.
And, during each week, I will host an online chat so that we can share our questions, experiences and insights with others. There will also be options for online voice conversations. And, there will be the option for one-to-one tutorials with live audio or video.
Participants can enroll in this online sacred storytelling course for the three months of December, January, and February. You will automatically receive credit from the School of Sacred Storytelling towards our diploma programs. If you wish, you will be able to continue your online learning with the next three-month seminar that begins in February.

1. You learn the gist of a new story each week, and soon have a large repertory of tales from around the world that will enrich your understanding of the Scriptures. 2. You learn these stories by either reading them, or listening to them, and by responding to them with the weekly exercises created for Parables Today. No memorization needed with our process of “visualization” -- the easy and natural way to learn stories. 3. You interact with other participants during the week leading to next Sunday’s lectionary selections from Scripture. They will share their questions and insights with you as they prepare to teach, or preach, or serve in some other ministry of the Word. Or they will meditate and pray over the stories if their interest is not professional, but for personal enrichment and spiritual guidance. 4. The facilitator, Dr. Robert Bela Wilhelm, is available all week long to guide you through the learning process of internalizing the tales and the Scriptures through both words and images. 5. A short assignment must be completed before the end of the week. Feedback will be given. If you satisfactorily complete 9 of the 12 or 13 weekly assignments, you will receive credit for the seminar. Credit is applicable to the diploma programs from the School of Sacred Storytelling. (These credits may be transferable to other certification, college, or seminary programs that you are enrolled in. Please inquire about this option.) 6. Tuition (which includes subscription to the Lectionary Storybook and other audio, video, and printed resources) is $295 for the three-month seminar. 7. You must have a Skype account (It’s free from skype.com) to enroll in the seminar. You can submit all your assignments in written form, but have the option to make audio and video presentations.
