| Kathleen Mavournin TENNESSEE Graduate 2003 Kathleen was born, raised, and became a lover of stories in Minnesota. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 22 years before retiring in 1999 to make her way in the world as a teller of tales. Kathleen is a Quaker in the unprogrammed (silent worship) tradition of Friends. She tells sacred stories, wisdom and wonder tales, fairy and folk tales from many cultures, lovingly informed and with great respect. She leads workshops for seniors on telling life stories and for adults or young people on creating fairy tales from personal experiences and on feminine images of the divine. Stories take us out of ourselves and into ourselves. They let us experience more vividly and understand more fully the length of human history, the breadth of human feelings and the depth of human spirituality. Story is the voice of our mother tongue teaching us how to be human. Kathleen is available in the U.S. or Canada for performances, workshops, or retreats on any of the following themes: Reconciliation & Peace-making; Seeking Divine Light; Creation Myths; Personal Fairy Tales; The Divine Feminine; Telling Life Stories, Story Paths to God Within. 344 Seven Oaks Drive, Knoxville TN 37922-3411, phone (865) 691-9506 |
